BODIES IN SPACE

[forthcoming] 2-channel fixed media, stereo sound

Bodies in Space is a fixed media audiovisual essay about the 1975 Apollo-Soyuz Test Project. Through the symbolic (and otherwise purposesless) gesture of docking together in space, the mission was meant to signal the end of the space race between the two superpowers. Using archival media from NASA and broadcast television, this piece investigates the negotiation of masculinity and the erotics of this technological gesture.
